Rollins, Inc. provides pest control services and protection against termites for more than two million customers across the globe. Starting as a one-man operation they now have over 8,000 in-field technicians and a family of over 15 brands including Orkin.
Start Opening Lines of Communication
Rollins challenged Sagepath to create a better way to get communications to field technicians who were more likely to be in a crawl space than near a computer. The technicians operated solely from their mobile phones and didn’t utilize email accounts.
Rebuilding the Hive
The existing Rollins intranet was in need of an improved UX/UI and the ability to work with mobile devices was mandatory. Our architects developed a secure and readily available intranet within Sitecore while securing a seamless integration with legacy ERP systems. We also built an IOS web application that gave local branches the ability to communicate important information with their teams through personalized, targeted and segmented content. In addition, we integrated Sitecore with Apple's notification services to send push notifications to the Rollins IOS app. We then built a search engine on top of Apache Solr, which allows a single-search index for all Sitecore instances, including faceted search, synonyms, and boosting.
Seeking Out the Right Name
The intranet and application also needed to fit right in with the Rollins family core values, so we worked closely with Rollins to develop the brand identity and content strategy. From that, "Scout" was born. The name Scout was chosen because a scout is one who gathers pertinent information and returns it to the commanding officers. Our Scout would do the same thing to keep the Rollins' army advancing.
